SUPPLIES NEEDED
TUBE OF CHOICE: I used the fantastic artwork of Keith Garvey
You must have a license to use his art.
You can find Keith's art and get your license HERE.

SCRAPKIT: Miss Independent Collab
This is a set of four kits (PTU).
The designers include:
Pimp'd Designz
PolkaDot Scraps
Designs by Sarah
TK Dezigns
You can find it HERE.

FONT OF CHOICE: I used ConsulScriptSSK

I used Photoshop for this tut.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
In this tut we'll be learning how to make things fade.
If you don't wish to animate, just skip the steps marked *BLUE*
If you are animating,
you will end up with 35 frames of animation.
Don't let that scare you!
I'll take you through it step by step.
It's not hard
and hopefully,
you will be able to use the fading technique
in your other creations later.

Because we're using 4 different kits,
I will refer to the elements like this:
pd-*** = Pimp'd Designz kit
PDS-*** = PolkaDot Scraps kit
sb-*** = Designs by Sarah kit
tk-*** = TK Dezigns kit

Open a canvas, white background, 700x700 pixels.
Open tk-barnwoodpaper.
In upper right corner of your Layer Pallete
Set Opacity to 80%.
Center on canvas.
Grab a soft edged eraser.
Erase around the edges
to create a soft edge.

We're going to make the large flag.
Open sb-pp7.
Reduce size to 50% height, 75% width.
Open sb-pp4.
Reduce size to 25%.
Place sb-pp7 in upper left corner of canvas.
Position sb-pp4 in upper left corner of pp7.
You should now have a flag.
Merge these layers.
To Merge:
Highlight sb-pp4.
(This layer should be on top of pp7
in your Layer Pallete.)
Right Click.
Select Merge Down.
Rename this layer sb-flag.

Open pd-flag.
Place this on top of sb-flag
over toward the left.
Use my taggie as a guide.

If you want a Drop Shadow on these
Do it now.

If you are not going to animate,
Choose one of the two flags above
and skip the next steps marked in *BLUE*

*FOR ANIMATION*
Duplicate both flag layers nine times.
I renamed the layers like this:
sb-flag1
sb-flag2
sb-flag3
and so on until the final layer is sb-flag10.
I did the same for pd-flag.
Highlight the sb-flag2 layer.
Go to the upper right corner of your Layer Pallete.
Set the Opacity to 90%.
(The first layer will stay as is: 100%.)
Click Enter on your keyboard.
This will set the Opacity for the layer.
Continue to highlight each sb-flag layer
one at a time.
For each layer, set Opacity as follows:
sb-flag1 = 100%
sb-flag2 = 90%
sb-flag3 = 80%
sb-flag4 = 70%
sb-flag5 = 60%
sb-flag6 = 50%
sb-flag7 = 40%
sb-flag8 = 30%
sb-flag9 = 20%
sb-flag10 = 10%
Repeat these settings for pd-flag layers.
Remember pd-flag1 will be at 100% Opacity.
TIP FOR OTHER CREATIONS:
When using the fading technique
always reduce the Opacity by 10% for each layer.
Now hide all layers except sb-flag1 and pd-flag1.

Open PDS-star4.
Place this over toward upper right of the canvas.

Open your tube.
Use my taggie as a guide to position her.

Open pd-firework01.
Place over to the left of your tube.
Resize to 65%.
Go to Filter in your toolbar.
Choose Sharpen.
Select Sharpen again in the drop down menu.
Open tk-fireworkwhite.
Resize to 65%.
Place on top of pd-firework01.
Repeat Sharpen steps.

Open PDS-star2.
Resize to 25%.
Place to left of canvas near fireworks.

Open pd-wordart01.
Resize to 90%.
Use my tag as guide for placement.
I erase the portion of this layer that covered
my tubes hands.

Open tk-triplestars.
Flip Horizontaly.
Place over legs on your tube.

Place a drop shadow on all layer except:
tk-barnwoodpaper
PDS-star4
(Remember, you've already added
Drop Shadow to your flag layers.)
On pd-wordart01,
I place both a Drop Shadow
and an Outer Glow.

Make a new layer.
Type your name on the taggie.
I used Black.
Stroke 2, Center, color 210bc1.
Resize your taggie now to your liking.

MOST IMPORTANT!!
You must now do this:
Put the artist's name, website, and your license number
of the tube you used on the siggy!!
Add your name (ie: Designed by Your Name) behind this info.
Make sure this info is legible and clearly seen.

If you don't want to animate, Save as PNG.
YOU'RE DONE!!
(If you want to maintain your layers
Always Save as PSD first.
Then you can save it as a PNG.
When doing both these steps
It is important to change the title of the tag.
Example:
When I Save as PSD,
I always name the tag what I want.
Then, when saving as a PNG,
I add the number 1 behind the name of the tag.
Like this:
Can You See, Save as PSD
Can You See1, Save as PNG
Otherwise, your PNG will overwrite your PSD
Merging your tag into one layer only.)

**TO ANIMATE**
Open the Animation Window.
Set the time for .2.
All layers of your siggy should show
in all animation frames
except the flag layers.
Below is how the flag layers will show.
Frames 1 – 15 will only show sb-flag layers.
Keep pd-flag layers hid.
For the first frame:
*Show all layers of your siggy*
and ONLY sb-flag10 of the flag layers.
Make sure all other flag layers are hidden.
Second frame:
Repeat * and ONLY sb-flag9 flag layer showing.
Frame 3 - Frame 9:
Frame 3 - * and sb-flag8
Frame 4 - * and sb-flag7
Frame 5 - * and sb-flag6
Frame 6 - * and sb-flag5
Frame 7 - * and sb-flag4
Frame 8 - * and sb-flag3
Frame 9 – * and sb-flag2
Frame 10:
Set time for this frame only at .6
Show * and sb-flag1.
Frame 11 – Frame 15:
Set time back to .2
Frame 11 - * and sb-flag2
Frame 12 - * and sb-flag3
Frame 13 - * and sb-flag4
Frame 14 - * and sb-flag5
Frame 15 - * and sb-flag6
Now we'll be showing more than one flag
in the animation frames.
Frame 16 – Frame 20:
Frame 16 - * and sb-flag7 and pd-flag10
Frame 17 - * and sb-flag8 and pd-flag9
Frame 18 - * and sb-flag9 and pd-flag8
Frame 19 - * and sb-flag10 and pd-flag7
Frame 20 - * and sb-flag10 and pd-flag6
Frame 21 – Frame 26
We will only be using pd-flags with *.
Frame 21 - * and pd-flag5
Frame 22 - * and pd-flag4
Frame 23 - * and pd-flag3
Frame 24 – * and pd-flag2
Frame 25:
Set time to .6
Show * and pd-flag1
Frame 26:
Set time back to .2
Show * and pd-flag2
Frame 27 – Frame 34
We'll be using more than one flag again.
Frame 27 - * and sb-flag10 and pd-flag3
Frame 28 - * and sb-flag9 and pd-flag4
Frame 29 - * and sb-flag8 and pd-flag5
Frame 30 - * and sb-flag7 and pd-flag6
Frame 31 - * and sb-flag6 and pd-flag7
Frame 32 - * and sb-flag5 and pd-flag8
Frame 33 - * and sb-flag4 and pd-flag9
Frame 34 - * and sb-flag3 and pd-flag10
Frame 35 - * and sb-flag2 only
Save as PSD. Then Save for Web & Devises.

YOU'RE DONE!
I hope you had fun with this tut
and that you can use the fading technique
in other taggies you create!
HUGS!

♥Tribute to Rieka♥

To honor Rieka and all she has blessed me with, I will be leaving all my tuts that I have written with her kits on my blog. They are not coming down. Even though her kits are no longer available, the tuts I wrote using them are my tribute to her. Hopefully, they will inspire you the way Rieka inspired me. Love You, Rieka! You'll be forever in my heart.♥

My tuts are all done in PS. They are designed to show you different techniques that you may not know. I hope you learn something that you can use in your creations in the future. Please, just have fun and put your own spin on these tuts. Be original and shine! Love Ya! ♥
